Wellington's Men on Find My Past

Find My Past has added 130,000+ records of men who served - or who could have served, under the Iron Duke. The new Napoleonic War Records series (1775-1817) is comprised of the following three datasets:

1. Army of Reserve 1803
26,000+ records from WO 12 (muster books and pay lists) and E 182 (deserter bounty certificates) at The National Archives.

2. Regimental Indexes 1806
97,000+ regimental records from the 1st-50th Regiments of Foot and the Cavalry, Foot Guards and Royal Waggon Train.

3. Foot Guards Attestations 1775-1817
9,000+ records from the 1st Foot Guards

156,000 records of British Army soldiers at home and abroad. This is an index compiled from papers at The National Archives.

1861 Worldwide Army Index
Can't find him on the 1861 census? Was he in the army? This index contains the names of over 245,000 British soldiers at home and abroad.

1871 Worldwide Army Index
Nearly 208,000 British Army officers and men at home and abroad. A census surrogate for 1871.

Anglo-Boer War 1899-1902
Close to 300,000 men and a casualty list of over 60,000. The most comprehensive Boer War register on the web.

Research sources 1914-1945

Soldiers' medical records from MH 106

Images and transcripts relating to over 930,000 soldiers treated as casualties between 1914 and 1918. Accept no Forces Poor Records substitutes.

Widows pensions 1914-1920

A sad collection of just under 10,000 records in PIN 86. These women were all widowed during the First World War.

WW1 Pension & Service Records 1914-1920
Search WO 363 and WO 364 in a single search on Findmypast. Contains c400,000 results not found on Ancestry.

WW1 Medal Index Cards 1914-1920
First World War campaign medal entitlement details for close to 5 million men. You'll find ALL of a man's regimental numbers indexed here. Ancestry's search is limited to the last number a man was issued with; a serious failing.

Soldiers Died in The Great War 1914-1919
Essential record of WW1 British Army deaths. Most records for other ranks give place of birth, place of residence and place of enlistment details.
